ULTRAFILTRATION SYSTEMS FOR METAL WORKING PROCESSES



Synder Filtration offers a proven and effective alkaline and acid cleaner bath recycle system using Tubular Ultrafiltration cross flow membrane technology for reclaiming high temperature cleaner bath solutions. This operation is accomplished by circulating the bath solutions either in a continuous or batch process, removing virtually all particulate contamination and emulsified oils and returning the
cleaned solution to the cleaner bath process.

This single pass skid mounted system is fully assembled and includes all piping, valves, level controls, control panel, CIP tank and pump and is factory tested prior to being crated for shipment.

System Specifications

  • Electrical Requirements. 460/230 VAC, 3 Phase, 60 Hz
  • Hot water for cleaning. 110 degree water is required for cleaning. If plant water is not available a typical hot water heater can be included with the system.
  • Low pressure shut off. In the event of low process pressure the system will automatically shut off.
  • High temperature protection. In the event of high inlet temperature of over 140 degrees F the system will automatically shut off.

Process Features & Benefits

  • Savings of up to 80% of current bath solutions. This savings provides a fast payback and additional savings in reduced inventory, waste treatment, freight and utilities.
  • Consistent bath quality. Typical systems are filled periodically with fresh cleaner that starts out with a high cleaning efficiency. As the bath becomes contaminated with waste solids and oil the cleaner efficiency decreases resulting in constantly decreasing surface finish quality until the bath is changed again.
  • Reduced waste treatment and waste haul away costs by as much as 98%. Haul away cost is between $0.50 and $1.50 per gallon and this requirement will be reduced drastically which speeds the ROI for the system.
  • Long membrane life. The cross flow tubular membrane has a long operating life because of the constant scouring effect due to high velocity of the waste stream on the membrane surface. Required periodic cleaning of the membrane extends the life even more. Low trans-membrane pressure (5-20 psid) also extends membrane life.
  • High temperature and wide pH operating range. Temperatures up to 140 degrees F and a pH range of 2-12.5 provide for a wide operating range and variety of cleaner applications.
  • Semi-automatic operation with little or no operator attention. Labor savings is two fold with this easy to operate process and the elimination of constant monitoring and refilling of the cleaner bath.
  • Wide variety of system sizes and process flow requirements. Standard tubular UF Systems from 4-78 tubes cover virtually all size requirements.
  • No aggressive chemicals needed for cleaning. No acid cracking emulsions or aggressive chemicals are needed for membrane cleaning. This results in a more environmentally friendly process and a better working environment. Cleaning done with mild detergent and sponge balls.
  • Standard industrial system parts are easily replaced if necessary. Many replacement and maintenance parts are available from local sources.
  • Low surfactant add requirement. The Ultrafilters remove a small amount of surfactants from the cleaner bath. Minimum additions of fresh cleaner are required to maintain the chemistry and effectiveness of the cleaner bath.
